What is Plastic Continents?

Plastic Continent(s)

This blog is associated with the website www.plasticcontinents.com

Plastic Continents is a term that was created to describe the congregation of polluted plastic in our Oceans and Deserts.
Over the last decade, research, articles, activists, commercials, and other blogs have been dedicated on trying to spread awareness on this global phenomenon.

The goal of this blog is to accumulate all of these separated sources into one website, and not only gather this information and circulate it, but also discuss the project I have been working on prior to and currently with the University of South Florida.

My research project at USF consists of creating an Art piece that will spread awareness of this serious occurrence and stimulate a positive response in generating solutions for this problem. This global issue is one that can only be resolved at a individual and community level. One plastic bag that is recycled or not used, per person, would already create a difference.

An example of helping solve the accumulation of plastic bags in our oceans and deserts, is by using less unnecessary plastic packaging.
***If you shop at publix, you may ask to use brown paper bags instead of plastic bags! That is ONE easy way of helping out!
